About The Position

The Research Foundation of The City University of New York (RFCUNY) is seeking an Actor/Facilitator to join their team. This role supports the CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS) and its Office of Innovative Learning Solutions (ILS) in their partnership with the New York City Administration for Children’s Services (ACS). The Actor/Facilitator will portray various roles for child welfare and juvenile justice simulations, providing professional development learning for direct service staff and supervisors. The team focuses on learning delivery through professional simulations, preparing by reviewing training objectives and character guides, observing live simulations, and participating in debriefing sessions. The actor will guide learners to demonstrate skills, build confidence, and identify learning needs. Post-simulation, actors provide strength-based feedback based on their feelings and participant interactions.

Requirements

Skilled in stage and/or live video performances or improv.
Able to dress and supply appropriate attire for different scenarios.
Must be able to travel to training sites in New York City.
For virtual simulations, must have stable internet and reliable devices.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States on a continuous basis.

Nice To Haves

Applied Theater background, including simulation.
Involvement in education, training facilitation, and/or training and development.
Experience with giving constructive or strength-based feedback to individuals or groups.
Real-life business experience in social services, education, business, or other industries.
Knowledge of training models – (e.g. GROW, DISC, Personality typing, etc.) please specify.

Responsibilities

Portray various female-presenting supervisory and parental roles for child protection and juvenile justice simulations.
Subtly guide child welfare learners to demonstrate acquired skills and build confidence.
Identify learning needs of participants during simulations.
Provide verbal strength-based feedback after simulation experiences, describing feelings and responding to participant communication styles.
Maintain the integrity of the work and promote continuous improvement through debriefing check-ins.
Represent various ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
Portray varying age-appropriate authentic behaviors and characteristics, including attitudes, voice style, and expressions.
Demonstrate professionalism, improvisation skills, and attention to detail.
Take direction quickly and apply professional development feedback.
Use listening devices and receive directions during live simulations.
Other duties as assigned.
