About The Position

Brooklyn Community Services (BCS) is seeking an Activity Specialist for the Seth Low Cornerstone Program. This role involves collaborating with the Site Director and Assistant Director to provide a variety of activities for children, youth, adults, and seniors. The program operates during the school year and summer, requiring availability for evenings and weekends. BCS is a large, non-sectarian social services agency in Brooklyn dedicated to a wide range of services, including early childhood and after-school education, and vocational training.

Requirements

High School Diploma required.
Must enjoy working with children.

Nice To Haves

Some college education preferred.
Background in sports, music, drama, dance, photography, crafts, sewing, or the arts is a plus.

Responsibilities

Work collaboratively with the Site Director and Assistant Director/On-site Supervisor to provide activities for children, youth, adults, and seniors.
Help implement multi-sensory lessons and activities to children within academically stimulating themes.
Coordinate planning and preparation of activities and materials for the daily schedule.
Provide effective supervision to groups of children during classroom activities, snack time, recreation, and field trips.
Provide effective supervision and activities to middle/high school participants during evening and weekend hours.
Responsible for taking daily attendance.
Assist with developing and planning community events for children, parents, and the community.
Oversee and monitor authorized parental/guardian drop-off and pick-up of children, following all health and safety protocols.
Outreach to parents and the community to promote the program, activities, and upcoming events.
Attend and comply with training requirements, including all health and safety protocols.
Perform other responsibilities as needed and requested by the site director.
