Activity Specialist (August Martin HS - Jamaica, Queens)
About The Position
The Activity Specialist designs and facilitates project-based learning experiences in a specialization such as dance, step, and cheer. The role collaborates with site leadership to plan and deliver youth development activities, engages participants in specialty-area activities, and supports them with encouragement and resources. The specialist also coordinates events and functions related to the specialty area and prepares and submits program and certification paperwork and materials. The position is based at August Martin HS in Jamaica, Queens, and the listed hours are Monday through Friday, 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM.
Requirements
- Two years of experience working with children and/or youth in the relevant specialization.
- Exemplary supervisory skills with elementary-level, middle-school, or high-school-aged youth, and an aptitude for motivating people.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to plan and carry out assignments independently.
- Ability to prioritize, adhere to timelines, and multitask.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with site leadership to plan, develop, and execute quality project-based youth development activities.
- Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with participants, families, and school faculty.
- Coordinate specialty-area events and functions, such as showcases, home games, productions, and culminating events.
- Engage participants in specialty-area activities and support them through encouragement and resources.
- Prepare related paperwork, materials, and implementation supplies.
- Submit all program- and certification-related documents on time.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
