About The Position

The Activities Specialist is responsible for helping participants grow artistically. This role involves developing, teaching, and maintaining various scheduled activities, including arts, theater, music, dance, and poetry. The specialist will organize and create exhibitions, performances, and recitals, and assist with participant recruitment and retention. Additionally, the role includes maintaining program spaces, producing promotional materials, and reporting to the Program Director.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One year of experience in the field.
  • A high level of knowledge in Creative Arts.
  • Experience teaching or training individuals in group settings.
  • Experience with lesson plan development.
  • Submit background checks in compliance with DOE, DYCD, DOH, and SACC regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Working towards or possessing an AA or BA degree.

Responsibilities

  • Developing, teaching, and maintaining scheduled activities.
  • Developing and maintaining arts, theater, music, dance, and poetry programs.
  • Organizing and creating art exhibitions, dance routines, theater presentations, music recitals, and poetry jams.
  • Assisting with the recruitment and retention of participants.
  • Maintaining site bulletin boards and producing flyers for events.
  • Organizing and creating program performance costumes.
  • Accompanying participants on art, theater, and dance-related trips.
  • Maintaining daily attendance for all courses.
  • Co-facilitating Parent Meetings.
  • Ensuring the cleanliness and presence of all spaces used by program participants.
  • Keeping the Program Director informed of any changes and abnormalities.
  • Submitting weekly reports to the Program Director.
  • Attending all program staff meetings, trainings, and special events.
  • Assisting other staff when needed.
