Requirements

Minimum 18 yrs. age required
HS diploma or equivalent required
Valid New York Driver’s License and clean driving record required
Ability to develop good relationships with staff, volunteers, families and visitors required
Ability to inspire and motivate others, create a warm and accepting climate for residents and be able to adapt and modify activities to meet their needs required
Understanding of the rights and needs of residents required
Physical stamina for constant activity required
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level

Responsibilities

Assist in planning and facilitating engaging daily recreational and social activities
Encourage resident participation through both group and one-on-one programming
Build meaningful relationships with residents while learning their interests and preferences
Help document resident participation and progress toward activity goals
Assist with care planning by providing observations and resident feedback
Coordinate with community organizations, volunteers, and special guests to enhance programming
Maintain activity supplies, equipment, and department inventory
Support special events, holiday celebrations, outings, and entertainment
Help create a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment where every resident feels valued
