About The Position

At Elderwood Village at Colonie, our Resident Activities Aides help bring energy, connection, and joy to the lives of the older adults who call our community home. Whether you're leading a group activity, helping with a special event, taking residents on an outing, or simply sitting down for a conversation, the moments you create matter. Our 94-bed assisted living community is beautifully renovated and offers a warm, welcoming environment where residents and staff can feel at home. Requirements

  • Minimum 18 yrs. age required
  • HS diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid New York Driver’s License and clean driving record required
  • Ability to develop good relationships with staff, volunteers, families and visitors required
  • Ability to inspire and motivate others, create a warm and accepting climate for residents and be able to adapt and modify activities to meet their needs required
  • Understanding of the rights and needs of residents required
  • Physical stamina for constant activity required
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level

Responsibilities

  • Helping plan and lead fun, engaging recreational and social activities
  • Encouraging residents to participate in activities that match their interests and abilities
  • Spending one-on-one time with residents and getting to know what makes them smile
  • Supporting special events, holiday celebrations, entertainment, outings, and community activities
  • Working with volunteers, community organizations, and special guests to bring new experiences to residents
  • Helping maintain activity supplies, equipment, and department inventory
  • Documenting resident participation and sharing observations with the care team
  • Helping create an environment where every resident feels welcomed, included, and valued
