About The Position

Challenge Enterprises of North Florida, Inc. is seeking a caring, dependable, and community-minded Activity Leader II to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through Club Challenge. In this role, you will help members work toward personal goals related to community involvement, social and recreational activities, volunteer service, daily living skills, self-advocacy, and employment exploration. This position is highly interactive and person-centered. The Activity Leader II will help plan and facilitate meaningful activities, support safe community participation, encourage independence and choice, and assist with documentation, attendance, and program operations. The ideal candidate is patient, organized, engaging, and committed to helping members build confidence and participate fully in their community.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must have a clean motor vehicle record.
  • Must be able to pass local and Level 2 background screening requirements.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
  • Must maintain CPR, First Aid, and all other required training and certifications.
  • Must be willing to sign and follow confidentiality requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Five years of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
  • College coursework in Human Services, Social Work, Education, or a related field preferred.
  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent years of relevant experience is also preferred.
  • Knowledge of the local community and experience supporting community-based activities are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate person-centered planning with members, staff, and community partners.
  • Support members in developing personal goals related to employment, social participation, recreation, daily living skills, and self-advocacy.
  • Provide supervision, encouragement, and support in collaboration with community professionals.
  • Promote member choice, independence, dignity, and meaningful participation in program activities.
  • Provide training and coaching to strengthen daily living skills, social skills, and self-advocacy.
  • Plan, engage in, and facilitate community outings based on members’ interests, personal goals, and scheduled activities.
  • Use Clay Transit for community outings on a regular basis when included in scheduled events.
  • Build natural supports and promote safe social integration between members and the community.
  • Support volunteer service, recreational activities, and opportunities that expose members to the possibilities of work and greater independence.
  • Assist with recruiting efforts for Club Challenge members, including individuals transitioning from work contracts, adults on the APD waiting list, and recent high school graduates who are not currently employed.
  • Verify daily attendance and required program documentation when assigned.
  • Work collaboratively on the monthly activity calendar and social media posts with the Activity Assistant.
  • Report incidents in accordance with approved Incident Reporting Procedures.
  • Attend and participate in mandatory and recommended training.
  • Maintain regular communication with supervisors and staff regarding member needs, activities, and program operations.
  • Follow all Challenge Enterprises policies, procedures, and program expectations.
