About The Position

The Arbors Assisted Living Community is seeking a part-time Activity Assistant to help create a vibrant, welcoming community where seniors feel valued and connected. The role involves warmly and respectfully encouraging residents to participate in activities, while responding compassionately when they are hesitant or prefer quieter engagement. A steady, positive presence and flexibility are important when plans, schedules, or weather change.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience working with elders in home care, assisted living, or skilled nursing.
• Dependable, compassionate, and team-oriented.
• Must meet Registry of Motor Vehicle requirements.

Nice To Haves

• Associate’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Engage, escort, and motivate residents to attend activities.
• Create a welcoming, inclusive environment where everyone feels safe participating.
• Provide meaningful one-to-one visits for residents who prefer quieter engagement.
• Support programs such as arts, music, exercise, games, spiritual gatherings, lectures, and outings.
• Assist residents respectfully and with dignity during activities.
• Drive the community van for trips and excursions, subject to meeting RMV requirements.
• Observe residents’ engagement levels and communicate insights to the Activity Director.
• Support teamwork and collective ownership.
