About The Position

The Activity Assistant conducts and assists with residents’ daily activities. The role guides activity programs to encourage socialization, provide entertainment, relaxation, and fulfillment, and improve daily living skills. The position also supports resident participation, maintains activity-room decorations, conducts room visits and small-group activities, helps identify residents’ social, recreational, and emotional needs and interests, and serves in dining areas during meals.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact with or educate residents.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, clinical staff, and providers.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Resident/customer-service orientation, with professionalism and socio-economic and cultural sensitivity.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and assist with scheduled daily activities for residents.
• Follow the daily event schedule and encourage residents to attend and participate in appropriate activities.
• Maintain decorations in the activity room.
• Conduct room visits and small-group activities.
• Help identify and monitor residents’ social, recreational, and emotional needs and interests through routine interviews and visits.
• Oversee and serve in dining areas during meal times.
