About The Position

Cedar Creek Hospital of Michigan is a beautiful and state of the art 72-bed facility. Cedar Creek provides evidence-based treatment to adolescents and adults struggling with mental health issues. Cedar Creek Hospital invests in our patients by offering an integrated medicine approach that provides the latest therapies including yoga, mindfulness, aromatherapy, music therapy and nutrition. As part of our success and innovation in the field we are seeking qualified applicants for an Activity Aide/Coordinator position. The Activity Therapy Aide participates in the planning, implementation, and performance of therapeutically orientated activities and groups. They are responsible for providing activity and group programming for adult and adolescent patients in an inpatient setting. The Activity Therapy Aide helps educate and develop recreational, social, leisure and daily living skills. This position actively supports, promotes and works to fulfill the Mission, Vision, and Values of Cedar Creek Hospital using our Service Excellence Program.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in a psychiatric, mental health, or activity related field

Nice To Haves

• Previous knowledge or work experience in activity therapy preferred
• Previous knowledge or work experience in the mental health field preferred

Responsibilities

• Teach patients interactions with families and significant others in a socially constructive way
• Develop productive skills for vocational, avocational, and daily living activities
• Provide opportunities to become aware of leisure strengths and interests
• Transfer learned activity skills to ongoing functioning in the community
