About The Position

Clarion Psychiatric Center is looking for a dynamic new team member. Our Recreational/Activities Therapist is responsible for providing activity and group programming for adult and child/adolescent patients in an inpatient psychiatric setting. Primary responsibilities include designing and providing therapeutic recreation groups to patients to assist in focusing on treatment goals, as well as providing an assessment of each patient referred for group to determine needs of service. All the while maintaining written documentation to reflect the patients’ behavior and progress. Clarion Psychiatric Center offers inpatient treatment for adults with moderate to severe psychiatric problems, inpatient crisis stabilization for children and adolescents, and a Partial Hospitalization Program for school-aged children. Our recently expanded 112-bed inpatient program has 4 units. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy, Art Therapy, or Social Service Field required.
Recreational Therapy Certification, Art Therapy Certification, Music Therapy Certification, or certification in relevant field required.
CPR/HWC required.
Possess excellent communication skills and ability to teach patients.

Nice To Haves

One-year experience in psychiatric care preferred.
Knowledge of therapeutic relationships, therapeutic processes, growth and development, limit-setting and behavior management, crisis management of aggressive behaviors.
