About The Position

Centurion is proud to be the provider of comprehensive services to the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. We are currently seeking a Full-time Activity Therapist to join our team at Western Correctional Institution (WCI) located in Cumberland, Maryland. The Activity Therapist works as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team and uses recreational/social activities to accomplish treatment objectives, foster skill building and problem solving in support of healing and psychological stabilization. This person will assist patients using recovery based, skill-building strategies to enhance their skill sets related to recreation and leisure activities and to reinforce adaptive and independent living skills.

Requirements

NCCAP Certification preferred
Bachelor’s Degree in the social sciences (psychology, social work or counseling or related field)
Specific training in Recreational Therapy
Two or more years of experience providing comprehensive art/recreational therapy services
Experience working in corrections preferred
Must be appropriately and actively certified in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/ BLS
Ability to obtain a security clearance, to include drug screen and criminal background check
