About The Position

The Activities Supervisor plans, develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates a comprehensive calendar of activities and programs for older adults at Cove Community Center. This includes fitness and wellness classes, educational workshops, social and recreational activities, arts and creative expression programs, technology and digital literacy offerings, day trips, and special events. The role also focuses on reducing social isolation and increasing community engagement through intergenerational programming. The supervisor researches and implements evidence-based programs aligned with National Council on Aging standards, recruits and manages contract instructors, and oversees staff and volunteers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Recreation, Gerontology, Social Work, Human Services, Public Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Two to three years of progressively responsible related experience in recreation programming, activities coordination, or services for older adults.
  • At least one year of supervisory experience.
  • Valid Ohio driver's license.
  • CPR/First Aid certification, or ability to obtain within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates a comprehensive calendar of activities and programs for older adults.
  • Researches and implements evidence-based programs for older adults, including falls prevention, chronic disease self-management, and health promotion programming.
  • Recruits, schedules, and coordinates contract instructors, guest speakers, and program facilitators.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibility for staff and volunteers, including interviewing, hiring, training, assigning work, and resolving problems.
  • Recruits, trains, schedules, and supervises volunteers who support Division of Aging activities, congregate and home-delivered meal services, and programs.
  • Monitors and records volunteer hours; plans and coordinates volunteer recognition events.
  • Provides guidance, direction, and support to part-time staff, seasonal employees, and volunteers.
  • Prepares complex reports utilizing a variety of software.
  • Assists in developing and monitoring the activities and programming budget.
  • Assists in writing grant proposals and reporting for program funding.
  • Coordinates with Division of Aging social work staff, transportation staff, and other Department of Human Services divisions on cross-divisional programming and services.
  • Serves as a liaison and/or member of various committees/teams and collaborates with others outside own work area to coordinate efforts.
