About The Position

Western Hills Retirement Village, a Caring Place Healthcare Group Facility, is seeking a reliable, personable, and friendly driver who enjoys engaging with seniors. The driver will operate a 20-passenger bus for activity excursions. This position offers flexibility with either part-time (10-15 hours per week) or full-time (30+ hours per week) employment.

Requirements

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
• Must possess a current Commercial Driver’s License with a passenger endorsement
• Must possess personal vehicle insurance coverage and provide ongoing proof of coverage
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and to work independently and as a part of a team
• Ability to remain calm and cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
• Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, emotional upset and at times, hostile elderly
• Must be in good general health and free of communicable diseases
• Must have visual acuity and ability to hear, with or without use of prosthetics
• Must have the physical ability to lift, push, pull and move equipment in excess of 25 pounds
• Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents from the vehicle and/or activity if needed
• Must have the ability to read, write and speak the English language

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and on-time transportation for resident activities
• Assist residents with boarding and un-boarding the vehicle
• Perform inspection of facility vehicle prior to every trip and report any damage or safely concerns to Activities Director
• Report all accidents and incidents to Activities Director
• Provide current proof of insurability annually or as requested
• Communicate in a positive manner with healthcare team members, residents, families, visitors and vendors
• Adhere to facility policies and procedures, including infection control, safety, and HIPAA regulations
• Responsible for attending in-service programs, educational workshops and meetings as required by the facility and state
