About The Position

As the Director of Life Enrichment at Miller’s, you play a key role in patient satisfaction. You plan, coordinate and direct a wide variety of activities to enrich the lives of patients within the facility. You oversee and mentor other life enrichment staff. You are a member of the multi-disciplinary care planning team, and you document activity plans and participation in the patient record in accordance with company policy and the State and Federal regulations governing those services. You may transport patients to scheduled events away from the facility.

Requirements

  • Qualified Activity Director for the State of Indiana or previous experience in healthcare Activities.
  • Previous supervisory experience (preferred).
  • Good organizational and communication skills.
  • Pass physical examination given in behalf of gainful employment within the facility.
  • Satisfactorily pass through required orientation and training.
  • Able to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
  • Licensed or registered, if applicable, by the State in which practicing.
  • Eligible for certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist or as an activities professional by a recognized accrediting body.
  • Two (2) years experience in a social or recreational program within the last five (5) years, one of which was full-time in a patient activities program in a health care setting.
  • Is a qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant.
  • Completed (or will complete within 6 months) an Activity Director's training course approved by the State.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Meet basic pre-employment requirements set forth in the rules and regulations of the State Board of Health.
  • Have references which will reflect work life as reported in pre-employment screening and within the guidelines of existing regulations.
  • Must have/obtain Commercial Driver's license or Chauffers License as required.
  • Able to work with geriatric and/or handicapped disabled population.
  • Able to work as a member of the health care team.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations and understands responsibilities as they pertain to these.
  • Experience or knowledge of volunteer recruitment and orientation.
  • Ability to work well with other members of the Interdisciplinary Team.
