About The Position

The Activities Coordinator is responsible for planning, developing, attending, and leading activities for individuals participating and residing in all programs. This role involves creating engaging activities that promote physical, cognitive, and social development. The Activities Coordinator will work closely with participants to ensure activities are enjoyable and safe.

  • Must pass an extensive background check.
  • Must comply with drug testing requirements.
  • Must complete driver training in case of emergency situations that may require transport of clients
  • Reliable transportation is required.
  • Qualify as a van and client driver for ERC- you must have a valid Arkansas driver’s license, meet safe driver requirements, and be 18 years of age.
  • Must meet minimum licensure annual training requirements.
  • This role includes licensure requirements for Administrators, Health & Safety, and HIPPA training.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Three or more years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of programs and services for individuals with disabilities.
  • Experience working with nonprofit organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Directs, organizes, and teaches recreational and other daily activities.
  • Ensures the content of the activity is fulfilled in accordance with clients’ capabilities, needs, and interests.
  • Prepare a schedule of activities calendar with details for all events.
  • Organize, supervise, and attend all Special Olympics.
  • Recruit and train volunteers for the Special Olympics.
  • Organize and lead healthy, budget-friendly meal planning.
  • Plan and participate in community outings, encouraged to engage clients in the community, and experience NWA.
  • Order all program-related materials and instruct staff or volunteers how to properly carry out activities, including dinners, craft activities, exercise classes, movie nights, weekly budgeting, and other social activities.
  • Counsels and encourages clients to participate in leisure activities.
  • Assist clients in developing interpersonal relationships, socializing effectively, and developing the confidence needed to participate in group activities.
  • Participate in Day Programming and Waiver Annual Meetings; assist in goal development and provide input on progress for each client.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate service for each client.
  • Prepare and track annual budget for all activities
  • Lead and attend activities at ERC day programs and evening activities.
