They lead and participate in individual and group activities, using a variety of models such as pet therapy, music therapy, and art therapy. Responsibilities also include assisting with facility decoration, preparing for special events, developing and posting monthly activity calendars, and participating in recreational programs for residents confined to their rooms. The role promotes volunteer efforts and maintains records of activities and attendance, while also ensuring activity equipment and supplies are stored and areas are cleaned post-activity. The assistant utilizes the biopsychosocial model to support resident well-being.
