About The Position

Bethany of the Northwest, an icon of the healthcare industry in the Northwest for nearly 100 years, is seeking a temporary part time Activities Assistant for maternity cover at our Silver Lake facility. We are looking for a temporary Activities Assistant who is responsible to assist with the planning, organizing, and implementing a program of therapeutic activities designed to meet the social, spiritual, intellectual, emotional, educational and physical needs and interest of residents in accordance with the comprehensive resident care plan.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED desirable.
Must participate in programs for continuing education, working towards certification through the National Certification Council for Activity Professions or a similar program.
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with residents, volunteers, personnel and support agencies.
Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
Two years of experience conducting social/recreational programs within the past five years, one of which was full-time in a patient activities program in a health care setting.

Responsibilities

Assist in the development, planning, organization, implementation and evaluation of the activity programs of the facility.
Keep records as necessary ensure that regulations are followed.
Coordinate with other departments for special events and activity programs.
Assists with the training and supervision of volunteers.
Assist with transporting residents to all scheduled activities.
Run the activities as well as making sure that all other scheduled activities are covered.
Participate in the Care Plan meetings for residents on unit to which you are assigned.
Assists with the development and maintenance of a written plan of care for each resident that identifies the problems/needs of the resident and the goals for each problem/need identified.
