About The Position

Catholic Charities of Baltimore, St. Ann Adult Day Care Services is seeking an Activities Assistant - PRN. This role is responsible for helping participants engage in program activities and maintain their highest level of independence. The position involves providing assistance with daily living activities, conducting or co-leading group activities, and addressing participants' specific needs. The work schedule is PRN/On Call. St. Ann Adult Day Service offers medical supervision and a structured day program for elders and individuals with disabilities, aiming to support families, provide respite for caregivers, and reduce the likelihood of premature nursing home placement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum one year of experience working with elders in a long-term care setting (group home, skilled nursing facility, or day care).
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and consistent attendance.
  • Excellent communication skills, including active listening.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work with minimal direction or supervision.
  • Ability to maintain a safe environment for patients and co-workers.
  • Ability to transfer approximately 110-200lbs regularly throughout the day.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed GNA with the Maryland Board of Nursing, active and in good standing.

Responsibilities

  • Implements program activities designed to meet the needs and interests of individual participants.
  • Identifies each participant’s personal needs, behaviors, and interests and communicates changes in needs and functioning.
  • Encourages participants to engage in various activities, such as arts and crafts, music, etc.
  • Accompanies participants to and from vehicles and provides assistance with boarding and exiting vehicles.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all participants’ care information.
  • Assists in documenting accidents and incidents.
  • Sets up for meals, serves food, and cleans the dining area after meals.
  • Provides personal care and instruction in activities of daily living under the supervision of nursing staff.
  • Maintains a safe and organized environment by ensuring the facility is in good order, managing supplies and equipment, and reporting health and safety issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
