About The Position

Christian Health has been providing quality care and services for over a century. We are seeking a part-time Activities Assistant for our Longview department. This role involves assisting with the planning, development, and organization of recreational programs to meet the spiritual, emotional, physical, intellectual, recreational, and social needs of residents. The position also includes providing assistance with meal service and demonstrating an understanding of Assisted Living Principles, including resident choice, privacy, independence, and dignity. The Activities Assistant will report observations and changes in resident condition to the nurse, accurately record daily attendance, and provide coverage at the front reception desk. Responsibilities include implementing activity programs, publicizing programs to encourage resident participation, maintaining activity equipment, distributing individual calendars, assisting with meal gatherings, supporting facility outings, and forwarding requests for activity supplies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public.
  • Willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
  • Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm.
  • Willingness to handle residents based on their highest practical functioning level.
  • Ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing activity programs.
  • Sincere desire to work with the elderly.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with planning, developing, and organizing recreational programs.

  • Assisting with distribution of individual calendars and informing residents/families about available activities.
  • Assisting with gathering for and assistance during meals.
  • Assisting the Activity Coordinator with facility outings.
  • Forwarding requests for activity supplies to the Activity Director and/or Coordinator.
