About The Position

The Activity Aide position at Bourbonnais Terrace, a healthcare center serving mental health patients, involves engaging residents in a therapeutic program. The role focuses on life enrichment activities and entertainment to support residents in their recovery. The ideal candidate will have a background in sports, culture, music, and traditional recreational activities to provide joy, structure, and stimulation to residents. This position is crucial for emotional well-being, complementing clinical care.

Requirements

Prior experience as an Activity Aide in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), Intermediate Care Facility (ICF), or Assisted Living Facility (ALF) is strongly preferred.
The ideal candidate is outgoing, compassionate, and skilled at creating a welcoming environment that encourages resident involvement and participation.
Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) or patient documentation systems is preferred.
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
If assigned transport (driving) responsibilities, must maintain a valid driver’s license and meet the organization’s motor vehicle record and insurance eligibility requirements.

Responsibilities

Lead engaging group events, ranging from fitness and games to music and arts
Lead stimulating individual cognitive and memory retention activities for long-term residents
Maintain accurate documentation in PointClickCare (EMR system)
Collaborate with health care teams to individualize approach
Drive and escort residents to off-site events, appointments or activities utilizing the facility van (if assigned transport responsibilities)
