About The Position

Rider University’s Department of Natural and Health Sciences is recruiting for a full-time Acting Lecturer in Exercise Science for the Spring 2027 semester. The appointment may continue beyond the spring semester into the 2027–2028 academic year.

The lecturer will contribute to instruction in exercise science courses such as Exercise Testing & Prescription, Organization and Administration in Exercise Science, Introduction to Health Professions, and Kinesiology, as well as courses in their specialty that align with departmental teaching needs. The position also involves advising students and contributing to the Department, College, and University. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with faculty and mentor students from varied disciplines, cultures, and academic backgrounds.

Requirements

• PhD or other terminal degree in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Strength and Conditioning, or a related field; candidates with clinical doctorates (DAT, DPT, DOT) may be considered with appropriate experience.
• Professional certification, such as ACSM-EP, NSCA CSCS, or CSCCa.
• Demonstrated record of outstanding teaching of diverse undergraduate student populations.
• Satisfactory background and/or DMV checks.

• Experience establishing and supervising internships, field placements, or clinic experiences.
• Experience with program accreditation.
• Candidates who are ABD at the time of application may be considered.
• Candidates with master’s degrees and relevant, appropriate experience may also be considered.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to instruction of exercise science courses, including Exercise Testing & Prescription, Organization and Administration in Exercise Science, Introduction to Health Professions, Kinesiology, or closely related courses.
• Teach courses in the candidate’s specialty that align with departmental teaching needs.
• Advise students.
• Provide value to the Department, College, and University.
• Collaborate with other faculty.
• Mentor students from a wide range of disciplines, cultures, and academic backgrounds.
