About The Position

The Acquisitions Manager at Great River Learning (GRL) is responsible for identifying business opportunities with colleges and universities, interviewing professors, and persuading author candidates to work with the company. The role involves competing with other companies to partner with talented educators for lower-level, higher-enrollment courses to develop interactive and engaging materials. GRL has the experience and resources to market publications nationally if they perform well locally. The position is remote, requiring eight weeks of overnight travel per semester to college campuses in Northern and Western Texas and Oklahoma. Travel occurs from late August through late November and again from January through late April, with travel days typically starting on Sunday and concluding on Friday, involving campus visits to meet with college professors.

Requirements

  • Possesses a bachelor's degree with two years of sales experience.
  • Possesses a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively plan and schedule the week ahead by sending emails and making phone calls to schedule meetings.
  • Run meetings to interview, identify business opportunities, and recruit select college professors to become GRL authors.
  • When travelling, make the most of time on campus by making additional phone calls to higher priority contacts or department chairs.
  • Follow-up with prospective and existing authors, keeping notes and next steps in the CRM for all prospective, in-development, and existing publications.
