About The Position

Intertek is seeking an ACI Certified Construction Technician to join its Building & Construction team in Odessa, Texas. The technician performs construction materials testing, project-specific observations, and site assessments under general supervision or according to controlled procedures. The role involves work at project sites across the local West Texas region and requires overnight travel. The ideal candidate has construction materials testing experience, particularly with concrete, nuclear, and density testing. Intertek’s Building & Construction team provides assurance, testing, inspection, certification, and building science solutions to the built environment, serving the architectural, engineering, and construction industry both in laboratories and at project sites. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Construction materials testing experience.
ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician—Grade I certification.
Valid driver's license and reliable driving record.
Willingness to travel overnight; travel of 25–50% is required.
Effective written, verbal, and listening communication skills, and solid interpersonal skills.
Basic math, calculator, and computer skills.
Ability to read and understand work plans.
Ability to work off shift and overtime as needed.
External or task-related certifications may be required depending on region and state.

Responsibilities

Perform testing, project-specific observations, and site assessments under general supervision or using controlled procedures.
Operate testing equipment and conduct tests on soil, concrete, or other materials; assess and report data.
Use drawings, specifications, and diagrams in carrying out work.
Use specified methods to observe site activities and perform assigned tasks.
Make detailed observations and provide limited interpretation of results.
Maintain detailed documentation and test-result data.
Use a calculator to calculate mathematical test results.
Communicate effectively with clients and project teams.
Follow safety practices and policies to protect personal safety and the safety of others.
