About The Position

This is responsible work in the effective and efficient coordination and management of accreditation and re-accreditation programs for a division of the City of Akron. An employee in this class maintains, updates, and drafts a variety of documents and information in compliance with various accreditation programs. Works under general supervision with opportunity for the use of independent judgment in carrying out duties and responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or GED and a minimum of three years of paid program accreditation coordination work, advanced administrative support work, or related.
  • The experience requirement may be substituted with accredited college coursework in public administration, records management, or closely related field on a year-for-year basis.
  • Possession of a valid state of Ohio driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of the City of Akron rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and directives.
  • Knowledge of related program and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of data collection methods and reporting.
  • Skill in organization and attention to detail.
  • Skill in the use of personal computers, databases, and related software.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and projects and to deal effectively with competing and changing priorities.
  • Ability to communicate information that requires explanation or interpretation.
  • Ability to write clearly, concisely, and comprehensively.

Responsibilities

  • Manages, maintains, and coordinates the accreditation and re-accreditation process for various programs associated with the City.
  • Researches a variety of sites and resources to obtain information and documents required to meet accreditation program requirements.
  • Evaluates documentation for compliance with established standards.
  • Prepares and submits required documents and reports to the appropriate accrediting authority.
  • Reviews accreditation requirements and informs personnel of requirements for compliance.
  • Interprets accreditation standards for staff.
  • Reviews, modifies, and drafts agency policies, procedures, forms, and programs for the improvement of agency performance in compliance with applicable accreditation standards.
  • Ensures management has accurate and timely information to make decisions regarding agency policies and accreditation standards.
  • Advises supervision and staff of accreditation compliance/non-compliance issues and assists with assessments for compliance.
  • Documents attendance of staff at in-services and trainings.
  • Issues reminders for upcoming and overdue in-services, trainings, etc. related to accreditation.
  • Creates and maintains files, records, and reports for compliance with accreditation requirements.
  • Drives to attend meetings, seminars, and trainings to keep current with various compliance requirements and changes in standards, reporting requirements, and other issues that may affect the accreditation status of the division.
  • Assists with public records requests regarding accreditation compliance.
  • Meets with other agencies and city staff to collaborate and gather information regarding current best practices.
  • Serves as the liaison between the Division and accreditation organizations.
  • Conducts research and prepares reports for special projects as needed.
  • Performs related work as required.
