About The Position

BHP is a leading accountancy and business advisory firm, part of the Sumer network. They are seeking an Accounts Semi Senior to join their Digital Finance team. This role is ideal for an individual currently studying for their ACCA or ACA who wants to advance their accounting career in a modern, technology-driven setting.

Requirements

Currently studying for ACCA or ACA.
Experience in an Accounts Assistant, Bookkeeper, Finance Assistant, or similar accounting role.
Experience preparing management accounts and VAT returns.
Comfortable using cloud accounting software and Excel.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities effectively.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Proactive, ambitious, and keen to continue developing professionally.
Demonstrates a positive and collaborative approach to work.

Responsibilities

Support a portfolio of clients with bookkeeping, management accounts, VAT compliance, and cloud accounting solutions.
Work closely with managers and senior team members.
Develop technical expertise and take on increasing responsibility for client relationships.
Gain exposure to a diverse range of businesses.
Prepare bookkeeping records for clients.
Produce management accounts and supporting reporting requirements.
Prepare and review VAT returns.
Complete bank, supplier, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Assist with month-end and year-end accounting processes.
Review transactional data and identify anomalies.
Support clients with cloud accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage).
Process journals, accruals, and prepayments.
Assist with the preparation of statutory accounts.
Support trainees and junior team members.
Build strong relationships with clients and act as a trusted point of contact.
Identify opportunities to improve client processes through digital solutions and automation.
