About The Position

The Accounts Receivable Agent is responsible for performing collections and managing the receivable accounts of West Edmonton Mall. This role involves maintaining a portfolio of AR files with tenants, collecting payments as per lease agreements, reconciling complex tenant accounts, and following up on payment collections and allocations. The agent will also review lease requirements, communicate payment due dates to tenants, and verify and prepare invoices, bank deposits, and daily cash reports. Additional duties include posting incoming customer cheques, processing credit memos, assisting with client dispute resolution, and processing adjustments. A key part of the role is accurately transferring lease agreement terms and conditions into the accounting software system, interpreting complex lease language, and understanding calculations such as percentage rent, CPI increases, and property tax allocations. The agent will also assist with issue resolutions, process adjustments, and handle various administrative duties like maintaining filing systems, faxing, photocopying, and scanning.

Requirements

  • Two (2) to three (3) years’ experience in an accounting or accounts receivable based role.
  • Professional attitude and demeanor with excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills and a strong attention to accuracy in the workplace.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Outlook, Excel and Word with the ability to adapt to other software programs as required.
  • Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a post-secondary diploma in accounting through a recognized post-secondary institution is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience working with commercial lease agreements and direct experience performing commercial collections is a definite asset.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining a portfolio of AR Files with tenants of West Edmonton Mall, collecting as per the lease agreement.
  • Reconciliation of complex tenant accounts and following up on the collection and allocation of payments.
  • Reviewing lease requirements while communicating and explaining to a variety of tenants which payments are due.
  • Verifying and preparing invoices, bank deposits, sorting and posting incoming customer cheques, preparing daily cash reports, posting credit memos, assisting with client dispute resolution, and processing adjustments.
  • Performing detailed and accurate transferences of the key elements contained in the terms and conditions of lease agreements to the accounting software system.
  • Interpreting complex lease language and understanding complex lease calculations, including but not limited to percentage rent, CPI increases, property tax allocations.
  • Assisting with issue resolutions and processing adjustments while reviewing, advising, or adjusting any inconsistencies and invoices accordingly.
  • Various administrative duties such as maintaining filing and record systems, faxing, photocopying, and scanning.
  • Other responsibilities as required.
