About The Position

As an Accounting Technician, you will play a key role in supporting our Senior Accountants, Managers, and Partners across a diverse portfolio of clients. You will apply your technical accounting skills to deliver full-cycle bookkeeping and accounting support while maintaining strong client relationships. This position requires Japanese language proficiency and offers opportunities to learn, collaborate, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • 1–2 years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role.
  • Proficiency in Sage 50, QuickBooks, Sage Cloud, and QuickBooks Online.
  • Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting and payroll.
  • Ability to manage multiple client files with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Japanese (required).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Positive mindset with a proactive, solutions-oriented approach.
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Strong commitment to reviewing and ensuring the accuracy of your own work.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary coursework in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is an asset.
  • Experience within a public practice firm is an asset but not required.
  • Experience with Great Plains Dynamics is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of clients, performing full-cycle accounting to the general ledger stage.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable sub-ledgers, and investment reconciliations.
  • Complete payroll processing, including benefits, source deductions, ROEs, and interprovincial WorkSafe filings.
  • Prepare GST/HST, QST, PST, and other statutory tax filings.
  • Maintain accurate financial records, ensuring timeliness and compliance with client and statutory deadlines.
  • Collaborate with team members to enhance processes and support workflow efficiencies.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior staff.
  • Communicate effectively with clients in both English and Japanese.
