About The Position

Bow Valley Credit Union is looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Technician to be a cornerstone of our internal operations. Requirements

  • 1–3 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education and experience
  • Comfortable working with numbers with an eye for patterns
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel and Outlook
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team
  • Sound judgment and ability to troubleshoot and prioritize
  • Must be bondable
  • Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Successful candidates must be bondable and will undergo a criminal and credit record check.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with DNA Banking or FAS systems
  • Background in credit unions or financial services

Responsibilities

  • Balance and monitor accounts, processes, and clearing reports daily
  • Process daily settlement transactions including inter-account transfers
  • Maintain accurate records and support audit trail requirements
  • Prepare and organize daily work for downstream processing and review
  • Reconcile internal accounts, suspense accounts, and clearing entries
  • Compare internal records to external statements; identify and resolve variances
  • Support month-end and year-end reconciliation processes
  • Update daily FX rates and cash management reports
  • Process investment and foreign exchange transactions with AB Central
  • Produce rates surveys for deposit rates as required
  • Identify inefficiencies and bring forward recommended solutions
  • Support development and testing of improved processes and documentation
  • Participate in rollout of new initiatives and act as a resource for adoption
  • Assist with data entry, filing, and digital finance record maintenance
  • Respond to routine internal transaction and account inquiries
  • Support special projects and cross-training, including accounts payable and staff RRSP funding
