About The Position

The Denver Public Library (DPL) is seeking an Accounting Technician II to perform clerical and technical level accounting activities. This role supports both internal and external customers and stakeholders in areas such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash management. Responsibilities include preparing deposits, processing invoices, responding to inquiries from staff and vendors, entering transactions, maintaining financial records, training branch staff, and researching financial issues. The position works closely with the finance team to identify and reconcile discrepancies, compile documentation, and record corrective actions. A primary focus is customer service, enhancing DPL staff's understanding of financial processes and responding to vendor inquiries.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
  • Three (3) years of experience performing financial recordkeeping, reconciliation of accounting discrepancies, and making journal and ledger entries.
  • Skill in mathematical reasoning and problem solving.
  • Knowledge of financial recordkeeping.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical material, rules, regulations or instructions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to identify a need, organize information, and determine importance.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to demonstrate positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and a sense of humor in working with customers, coworkers, and community.
  • Ability to effectively use technology including email, internet, databases, video conferencing and other software, plus a willingness to learn new technologies as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Governmental financial recordkeeping experience.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (Workday experience a plus).
  • Proficiency in Excel.

Responsibilities
