About The Position

The Vancouver Housing Authority (VHA) is seeking an Accounting Tech with a focus on Accounts Receivable to support its mission of addressing affordable housing and homelessness in Clark County. This role involves managing resident accounts, overseeing the collections process for former tenants, invoicing partner organizations, managing receivable accounts with other housing authorities, generating financial reports, and maintaining accurate records of all accounts receivable activity.

Requirements

  • AA degree in accounting or related subject plus an additional two years of education or experience in accounting or related field required.
  • Candidates who are actively pursuing a relevant bachelor's degree and are within six months of graduation would be considered to have met this requirement.

  • Governmental, property management, affordable housing, or non-profit industry accounting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage resident accounts, including researching discrepancies, posting adjustments, reconciling balances, and coordinating oversight with property management staff.
  • Manage the collections process for former tenants, including payment agreements, bad debt tracking, and refunds.
  • Ensure compliance with state laws regarding notifications to vacated residents.
  • Invoice partner organizations for shared costs.
  • Manage receivable accounts with other housing authorities, including receipting, collections, adjustments, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Generate, review, and reconcile invoices and payments for accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare tenant-related financial reports such as Rent Rolls, Vacancy Loss Journal, Aged Accounts Receivable, and Occupancy Reports.
  • Maintain accurate records and schedules for all accounts receivable activity.
