About The Position

National Material L.P. (NMLP), established in 1964, is a leader in metals sales, processing, and supply-chain management solutions, serving the steel and rolled aluminum industries. National Material Processing (NMP) is the toll processing company operating under NMLP. The Accounting Supervisor will work in the East Chicago, Indiana offices and support the accounting and reporting function by performing monthly, quarterly, and yearly activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
• At least 5 years of experience, including experience closing the books.
• Up-to-date knowledge of technical accounting pronouncements.
• Advanced Excel skills, including macros, pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, HLOOKUPs, arrays, IFS, and references.
• Deadline-oriented, team-oriented, organized, and efficient, with attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• CPA or close to becoming a CPA is highly preferred.
• Steel industry or general manufacturing experience is preferred but not required.
• D365 ERP experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the month-end close, including journal entries and account analyses and reconciliations for multiple business units.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, including consolidated financial statements and various schedules and statistics.
• Perform revenue, cost of goods sold, and inventory analyses.
• Handle fixed-assets accounting.
• Reconcile various balance-sheet accounts across multiple ledgers.
• Ensure compliance with accounting principles, company policies, and regulations.
• Support internal and external audits.
• Identify and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Respond to other ad hoc requests.
