About The Position

Position reports to Sr. Accounting Manager and supports the accurate and timely recognition of revenue (subscription, licensing, in-game purchases, etc.) per ASC 606. Employer offers optional hybrid work from home within commuting distance to the office located in San Diego, CA.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in corporate accounting.
  • In lieu of a Master’s degree and 3 years of experience, employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and 5 years of progressive experience in corporate accounting.
  • CPA license or having passed all parts of CPA exam.
  • One year of experience identifying accounting process improvements, proposing changes to management, and developing and implementing changes.
  • One year of accounting month-end close experience, including Balance Sheet reconciliation, Monthly Accruals, and related Income Statement and Balance Sheet analysis.
  • One year of experience with revenue recognition.
  • One year of experience working with external auditors.
  • One year of experience using an ERP accounting system (Oracle or Sage).
  • Utilizing U.S. GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and practices of accrual-based accounting and maintaining financial records.
  • Preparing and posting journal entries, preparing monthly reconciliations and performing research on identified issues to complete the financial close and consolidation processes.
  • Comparing draft reports of general ledger schedules and consolidated financial statements and assisting in the preparation of the formal tie-out of all numbers.
  • Preparing technical accounting memos documenting the procedures performed.
  • Conducting fixed asset assignments and recording, ensuring accurate tracking and documentation.
  • Assisting management with the preparation of the monthly management reporting package and quarterly and annual financial reports.
  • Mentoring and training staff in audit and accounting best practices.
  • Any and all experience can be gained concurrently.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the month-end closing process by posting journal entries to the general ledger.
  • Assist in the preparation of revenue schedules, forecasts, and KPIs.
  • Analyze sales tax and VAT compliance across various jurisdictions to ensure accurate reporting, filing, and remittance.
  • Prepare financial statements and review for accuracy.
  • Perform and review variance analyses and prepare account reconciliations.
  • Assist with financial and tax audits.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and audit processes related to revenue recognition and tax obligations.
  • Examine GAAP/IFRS standards and recommend appropriate accounting treatment to management when needed.
  • Contribute to the development and review of the monthly rolling forecast as well as the annual operating budgets and performance projections.
  • May coordinate complex accounting projects.
  • May train and mentor more junior staff.
