About The Position

Onsite for the first 180 days, with potential for a hybrid schedule of 80% onsite and 20% remote thereafter| Monday-Friday| 8:00 AM - 4:30PM Job Purpose or Objective(s): The Accounts Payable Supervisor is to supervise all Accounts Payable functions for Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. This includes supervising, directing, coordinating, and reviewing work activities and work production. Primary Tasks: 1. Supervises staff by planning accounts payable tasks, reviewing work product, evaluating performance, and scheduling and directing daily tasks and activities. 2. Establish procedures and guidelines to ensure risk of theft and fraud are mitigated. 3. Oversee the daily monitoring of individual development goals set out for employees. 4. Manage scheduling and leave request. 5. Ensure effective internal controls over accounts payable functions. 6. Recommend improvements to training, controls and departments procedures. 7. Maintain compliance with IRS 1099 requirements and other IRS rules. 8. Make certain invoices and payments are processed according to policies and procedures. 9. Provide helpful and timely customer service to internal and external customers relating to the collection of information required to process and remit payments to vendors to ensure remittance of all outstanding invoices is made. 10. Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or 4 years related experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • 2+ years of experience in supervisory role or completed management training
  • 3+ years of experience with 1099 processing
  • Basic data entry skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Have a knowledge of GAAP, federal regulations, and organization's procedures as they relate to financial statements
  • Four years of accounting experience

Responsibilities

  • You will oversee the work of accountants and accounting clerks in the maintenance and preparation of accounting ledgers, journals, invoices, and financial statements.
  • Review account reconciliations, accruals, and financial statements for reasonableness and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Oversee the daily monitoring of individual development goals set out for employees.
  • Manage scheduling and leave request.
  • You will evaluate reports.
  • Recommend improvements to training, controls and departments procedures.
  • Perform other responsibilities as may be assigned.
