About The Position

Liberty FCU is seeking an Accounting Specialist for its Main Office at 4401 Theater Drive, Evansville, Indiana. The position supports the accounting department through general ledger activity, account reconciliations, financial closing procedures, tax and regulatory reporting, and backup support for department duties. The successful candidate will develop working knowledge of the credit union’s DNA system and FAS accounting system as they relate to the role. Candidates must be available to work Saturdays on a rotating basis.

Requirements

Accounting knowledge gained through completed educational courses or job experience.
Basic knowledge of Excel; advanced knowledge is preferred.
Detail-oriented, organized, and accurate.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Superior organizational, technical, and time management skills.
Availability to work Saturdays on a rotating basis.

Responsibilities

Prepare, post, and verify journal entries for various general ledgers.
Perform daily, weekly, or monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and identify and resolve discrepancies.
Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, ensuring transactions are finalized and reflected in the general ledgers.
Assist with property tax and other regulatory reporting.
Provide departmental support by backing up various job duties.
Develop working knowledge of the credit union’s DNA system and FAS accounting system as they apply to the job duties.
