About The Position

Bonnie Brae, a Special Education School and Residential Treatment Facility for at risk youth, is currently seeking a Full Time, Accounting Specialist - Accounts Payable. The Accounting Specialist is responsible for general ledger, receipts, payables, and expenditures, manages financial operations, including maintaining the general ledger, processing accounts payable, reconciling cash receipts, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. This role supports the CFO by overseeing key financial activities, preparing reports, and assisting with audits and budgeting processes.

Requirements

  • Associates and/or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related business field or equivalent experience required.
  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and a proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word & Excel).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with medical billing and/or fund accounting systems (Blackbaud) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update the general ledger, prepare journal entries, and assist with the generation of financial statements.
  • Record cash and check receipts, manage cash flow, and reconcile bank accounts.
  • Review vendor bills for accuracy and proper approvals, process payments, and maintain detailed records.
  • Manage resident bank accounts, clothing balances, cottage accounts, process reimbursements, and oversee petty cash accounts.
  • Reconcile development revenues and expenses, ensuring consistency in financial reporting.
  • Maintain records of fixed assets, calculate depreciation, and assist with capital budgeting.
  • Track and report variances in budgets and financial statements.
  • Prepare annual 1099s and ensure compliance with vendor contracts and certificates of insurance.
  • Assist with annual audit preparation and respond to auditor inquiries.
  • Oversee vehicle management, including registrations and insurance and audit vehicle logs.
  • Maintain schedule of insurance for all lines, prepare applications, and reconcile prepaid insurance.
