About The Position

Grassi is seeking an Accounting Manager to join our Client Accounting Services (CAS) team within our growing firm. The Manager position has the primary responsibility of oversight of the Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting engagement work plans. As a leader of the group, the Manager will demonstrate excellent project management skills, client service, and positive coaching to the team members in developing technical and professional competency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA designation strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in public accounting, family office services, or high-net-worth client accounting support.
  • Demonstrated success managing client relationships and leading engagements.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial information and provide meaningful insights.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to mentor and develop team members.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience interacting with executives and high-net-worth clients.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced proficiency with accounting technologies including Excel, QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, Expensify and other accounting software preferred. Experience with ProSystem fx Engagement a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and commitment to client service excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of multiple clients to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and primary client contact, delivering exceptional service and fostering long-term relationships.
  • Research complex technical accounting topics, identify relevant guidance, and corresponding regulations.
  • Review and approve bill payments, wire transfers, and check disbursements while maintaining strong internal controls and effective cash management practices.
  • Oversee reconciliations for bank accounts, brokerage accounts, and credit cards to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Maintain accurate books and records for individuals, trusts, partnerships, and related entities.
  • Review journal entries, financial statements, and month-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Assist team with year-end vendor review for 1099 processing.
  • Analyze financial performance, identify trends and variances, and provide actionable recommendations to clients.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop staff and senior accountants through coaching, feedback, and performance management.
  • Coordinate multiple client engagements and ensure all deliverables are completed on schedule.
  • Monitor expense reporting processes and ensure proper documentation and compliance procedures are followed.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and operational efficiencies across accounting workflows and systems.
  • Collaborate with firm leadership on strategic initiatives, onboarding activities, and special projects.
