Accounting & Payables Specialist - NETE Weir Canada Inc., Weir Marine Engineering LaSalle Onsite/Hybrid Purpose of Role: The Accounting & Payable Specialist manages the full accounts payable cycle in a high‑volume government contracting environment, ensuring accurate processing, proper documentation, and adherence to required regulations and internal procedures. They support the Finance Director, handle complex tasks, and help keep daily operations running smoothly. Requirements

  • Eligible to obtain a Government of Canada security clearance (requires Canadian citizenship and 10 years of residence in Canada)
  • College diploma or diploma of vocational studies in accounting
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in industry
  • Knowledge of SAP
  • Bilingual (English / French)
  • Proficient in Office 365
  • Willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Deadline-oriented and adept at time management
  • Team player who is comfortable working in different work group settings (International Shared Services)

Responsibilities

  • Review, verify, and process vendor invoices for accuracy, proper coding, and authorization
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documents
  • Liaise with Weir Business Services to coordinate new vendor setups and ensure timely, accurate execution of payment runs
  • Enter invoices into the government system and SAP
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for vendor inquiries regarding payments, invoice status, and account issues
  • Collaborate with purchasing, receiving, and other internal departments to resolve invoice or payment discrepancies
  • Maintain organized and accurate AP files, including invoices, packing slips, purchase orders, and supporting documentation
  • Assist with month‑end closing tasks, including batch processing, journal entries, balancing SAP and internal government system
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
