About The Position

This is a newly created “Player-Coach” role within the Accounting Service Desk, established to provide essential day-to-day leadership as the team expands. Reporting directly to the Accounting Operations Support Manager, the Team Lead serves as a critical support layer, acting as the first point of escalation for complex accounting and billing inquiries. This position offers a unique chance to step into leadership, providing mentorship and operational oversight without the burden of full people management. While this role is labeled as hybrid and can sit in various office locations (including Los Angeles, Austin, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Minneapolis, Phoenix, San Diego, or Seattle ), the team is currently fully remote . The firm is open to candidates across the U.S.; however, you must be strictly committed to working 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM Pacific Time to ensure coverage for the West Coast needs.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of accounting or billing experience, specifically within a law firm environment
  • Proficiency in Aderant is effectively required, alongside strong Excel skills (pivots and filters)
  • Prior experience as a Team Lead or in a formal mentorship/supervisory capacity (minimum 6 months to 1 year)
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive financial information with discretion

Responsibilities

  • Team Support: Provide guidance and training to a team of 7–10 Specialists, assisting with onboarding and identifying knowledge gaps.
  • Workflow Coordination: Manage and prioritize ticket queues in ServiceNow , ensuring high productivity and timely support for attorneys and clients.
  • Escalation Management: Resolve advanced or sensitive billing and accounting inquiries that require a higher level of expertise.
  • Process Improvement: Document instructions for the internal knowledge base and identify opportunities to streamline service delivery.
  • Hands-on Contribution: Maintain active involvement in daily operations, balancing supervisory duties with core accounting tasks.
