About The Position

Solid Biosciences is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and collaborative Accounting Manager to join its finance organization as the Company continues to scale as a public company and advance toward commercialization. This role will be a key contributor to the monthly and quarterly close process, balance sheet integrity, internal controls, financial reporting, and process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in U.S. GAAP, public company accounting, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, along with the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced biotech environment. This position offers the opportunity to help strengthen accounting operations, enhance financial processes, and support a scalable control environment during an exciting stage of the Company’s growth and transition toward commercial operations. This role will report to the Director, Accounting and will operate in a hybrid work environment, with the expectation of working in Solid’s Corporate Headquarters in Charlestown, MA 2-3 days per week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • CPA required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including a combination of public company and public accounting experience; Big 4 experience strongly preferred.
  • 2+ years of biotech or pharmaceutical industry experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and the ability to apply accounting guidance in practice.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls over financial reporting, including control design, documentation, and execution in a SOX-compliant environment.
  • Experience supporting SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K, as well as tie-out procedures and disclosure consistency review.
  • Experience in accounting operations and process improvement within a publicly traded company environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of NetSuite or a similar ERP system, including general ledger functionality, reporting, journal workflows, and financial close processes; NetSuite Fixed Assets Management (FAM) experience is a plus.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with systems commonly used in biotech finance environments, such as FloQast, Concur, Prendio, Equity Edge, and SharePoint/Teams, is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, evaluate alternatives, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex accounting matters for non-finance audiences.
  • Collaborative, proactive, and adaptable working style with a willingness to roll up sleeves and contribute across a variety of responsibilities.

  • Willingness and ability to support system implementations, ERP upgrades, integration projects, incorporation of AI into business processes, and other new tool adoptions with a focus on change management and user adoption.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations for assigned areas, including cash, investments, accounts receivable, prepaids, fixed assets, leases, accrued liabilities, and other key accounts; ensure reconciliations are timely, accurate, and supported by complete audit-ready documentation.
  • Prepare journal entries and supporting schedules for assigned areas of responsibility and ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with U.S. GAAP and Company policies.
  • Coordinate assigned close activities to ensure adherence to the monthly and quarterly close calendar.
  • Perform monthly and quarterly flux analyses for balance sheet and income statement accounts; investigate root causes of fluctuations and prepare clear, concise, and supportable explanations for management and auditors.
  • Support the accounting and operational execution of the Company’s license, collaboration, and other strategic arrangements, including coordination with cross-functional stakeholders as needed.
  • Build strong relationships cross-functional business partners, including Legal, FP&A, Procurement, Research & Development, and external service providers as needed to support timely, accurate, and decision-useful financial reporting.
  • Support the Company’s SOX 404 compliance efforts through execution and maintenance of internal controls, including process narratives, flowcharts, risk-control matrices, and related documentation.
  • Assist with the preparation, support, and tie-out of external financial reporting deliverables, including SEC filings such as Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K, as applicable.
  • Support quarterly reviews and annual audits by preparing schedules, responding to auditor requests, and ensuring financial information and documentation are organized, complete, and readily accessible.
  • Assist with the evaluation of non-routine transactions, accounting policy application, and implementation of new accounting guidance, as assigned.
  • Serve as a backup resource for key accounting operations, including procure-to-pay activities, by developing a strong understanding of end-to-end invoice processing, payment controls, and related accounting impacts.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities across the close process, reconciliations, controls, and systems environment to improve efficiency, scalability, and quality.
  • Provide guidance and support to members of the finance organization through close activities, project work, and day-to-day collaboration.
  • Support special projects and initiatives common to a growing public biotech company, including system implementations, process redesign, business process optimization, and accounting and process readiness activities associated with the Company’s transition toward commercial operations.
  • Perform other related duties and ad hoc projects as assigned.
