About The Position
The Accounting Manager applies accounting principles through analytical, creative, evaluative, and advisory work requiring an understanding of accounting theory and practice and resource management. The role reports to the Senior Accounting Manager and leads a team of accounting associates. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with a pay range of $90,000–$106,000.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or four years of related experience.
- Knowledge of GAAP, federal regulations, and organizational procedures as they relate to financial statements.
- Six years of accounting experience.
- Two years of experience supervising direct reports.
Responsibilities
- Develop departmental procedures and assess the need for new or changed controls.
- Analyze the effects of transactions and evaluate alternative ways to handle them.
- Review monthly financial reports for accuracy before reporting to management.
- Recommend improvements, adaptations, or revisions to the accounting system and procedures.
- Apply accounting principles to analyze financial information, prepare financial reports, and interpret accounting records, reports, and statements.
- Complete monthly reconciliations of interdepartmental accounts, transfers, and balance-sheet items.
- Update reports monthly and ensure discrepancies are investigated and resolved.
- Accumulate and track costs associated with construction in progress, grants, or projects under the role's direction.
- Review reports for management, the federal government, and audit purposes.
- Lead and positively encourage a team of accounting associates.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
