About The Position

As a critical member of the Finance and Accounting team, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for account reconciliations, journal entries, process improvements, and managing the daily operations of their direct reports within the general ledger, cost accounting, inventory, and fixed assets functions. This position will support a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders. A successful candidate will be resourceful in identifying key drivers to improve team performance and identifying and minimizing risks, skilled in communication, and effective in partnering with a variety of cross-functional teams. In addition, continuous improvement and innovation are key to the success of the team.

Requirements

  • BS or MS degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field
  • 5+ years accounting experience with at 2+ years in a supervisory role
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and general ledger practices
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Team player with well-developed interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong work ethic with superior time-management skills, capable of organizing and tracking multiple deadlines and priorities
  • Creative and tenacious problem-solver with strong analytical skills

Nice To Haves

  • CPA preferred
  • Public accounting experience desirable
  • Experience with inventory and cost accounting in a manufacturing environment highly desired
  • Familiarity with DCAA and other government related accounting desirable
  • Experience with a multi-subsidiary environment and intercompany relationships desirable
  • Experience utilizing ERP systems (Microsoft D365 preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate daily operations and transactions of staff, including General Ledger, Cost Accounting, Inventory, Fixed assets, and other assorted accounting topics
  • Ensure accurate General Ledger accounts by performing journal entries, accruals, analysis, and reconciliations.
  • Advise staff on coding transactions, reconciliation practices, and proper GAAP treatment
  • Identify, plan, manage and implement process improvement projects
  • Acts as liaison with other departments to ensure effective relationships and timely resolution of issues
  • Ensure transactions and processes are in accordance with GAAP and SOX requirements
  • Monitor for aging unresolved inquiries and transactions and proactively seeks timely resolution
  • Drives change to optimize operations and increase productivity
  • Helps direct reports establish annual goals and objectives and monitors individual performance as well as professional development progress. Administers performance appraisals and addresses performance issues with employees
  • Support various corporate reporting, forecasting, analysis, and process improvement projects as assigned.
  • Support annual SOX and substantive audits
  • Other tasks and duties, as assigned.
