Requirements

  • Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
  • Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Judgment and Decision Making: Knowledge of the decision-making process; ability to carefully evaluate the impact of emerging business situations and choose the best path forward communicating actions and activities that maximize organizational performance.
  • Managing People: Knowledge of processes involved in managing people; ability to lead successful teams, and diligently address issues related to performance and conflicts at the workplace.
  • Accounting: Knowledge of accounting methods, processes, and tools; ability to maintain and prepare financial statements and reports using accounting methods and processes.
  • Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.
  • Financial Reporting: Knowledge of processes, methods, and tools of financial reporting; ability to create and maintain accurate and thorough financial reports.
  • Financial Reporting Expertise – Ability to deliver accurate, timely internal and external financial reporting, ensuring compliance and high-quality outputs.
  • Oracle Systems Proficiency – Strong hands-on experience using Oracle to support financial processes, reporting, and data management.
  • Regulatory Knowledge (NAIC) – Solid understanding NAIC frameworks, with the ability to apply requirements within insurance financial environments.
  • Public Accounting Foundation – Experience gained within public accounting, with strong grounding in audit, financial controls, and technical accounting standards.
  • Insurance Financial Accounting – Demonstrated experience within insurance services, with a clear understanding of associated financial processes and reporting requirements.
  • Progressive Accounting Experience – Proven track record of growth across accounting roles, demonstrating increasing responsibility and depth of expertise.
  • Emerging Technology & Generative AI – Comfortable leveraging Generative AI tools to enhance reporting, streamline processes, and improve efficiency across finance and analytics workflows.
  • Data Visualisation & Analytics (Power BI) – Advanced capability in Power BI, consolidating data from multiple systems into clear, concise dashboard views that deliver actionable insights and support informed decision-making.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Qualification – CPA or CMA (preferred), reflecting strong technical capability and commitment to professional standards.

Responsibilities

  • Producing accurate and timely financial reports, for internal and external use, in accordance with GAAP and in compliance with section 404 of Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
  • Preparing or leading preparation of reports which summarize and forecast business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings, based on past, present and expected operations.
  • Ensuring the accounting policies and practices of the organization are followed; working closely with internal auditors, public accountants, federal tax examiners, and other financial professionals ensuring that practices are in line with the overall goals of the organization.
  • Overseeing and evaluating the activities of the accounting staff, and providing for their professional development; analyzing and solving accounting problems.
