Accounting Manager

Owner.comSan Francisco, CA
$130,000 - $175,000Hybrid

About The Position

Owner is scaling fast, and our financial systems need to be ready. We are currently using QuickBooks Online without an inventory subledger, an ERP roadmap, or automated integrations with Stripe, Bill.com, Ramp, and payroll, which consume too much time during the closing cycle. We are hiring an Accounting Manager to own the financial systems, data flows, and accounting infrastructure that we currently lack and to build them within the system rather than around it. This role will lead our ERP migration, establish inventory and COGS accounting, and lay the groundwork for multi-entity, multi-currency operations. This is a builder's position where you will define policies, select tools, design integrations, and write the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that will guide Owner's accounting for the next decade.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including direct ownership or significant contribution to an ERP migration or implementation at a scaling company.
  • Experience with inventory accounting and COGS for a physical-goods business (not just GL ownership at a SaaS company).
  • Demonstrated fluency with accounting systems and integrations: comfortable in the data model, able to communicate with engineers about APIs, and capable of explaining how a Stripe payout becomes a journal entry.
  • Experience with multi-entity, multi-currency, and intercompany accounting, or a clear path to developing this expertise based on prior work.
  • A builder's mindset: experience operating without a playbook, defining policy from first principles, and writing the SOPs your team runs on.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA preferred.
  • Mix of public accounting and high-growth in-house experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Owner's ERP migration from QuickBooks Online to an AI-first platform (e.g., Rillet, Campfire), including selection, implementation, data migration, and stabilization. This includes end-to-end design of integrations with Stripe Connect, Bill.com, Ramp, payroll, and Salesforce.
  • Establish inventory and COGS accounting within the ERP by defining FIFO vs. weighted-average policy, capitalization thresholds, and SKU structure. Build an inventory subledger with automated tie-outs to warehouse movements, book reserves for returns, warranty, shrink, and obsolescence, and deliver trusted COGS reporting by product and channel for operations and finance.
  • Build the international accounting foundation by defining entity setup requirements (multi-currency, intercompany, COA approach), ensuring the ERP supports multi-entity reporting, consolidation, and eliminations, and coordinating with tax, payroll, and compliance providers for the Canada launch and future expansion.
  • Identify and deploy AI/automation opportunities across reconciliations, close tasks, and reporting to reduce manual work and allow the team to focus on judgment rather than data entry.

Benefits

  • Estimated base salary range: $130,000 – $175,000
  • Generous pre-IPO equity package
  • Comprehensive health coverage
  • Remote-first workplace
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Extra fun perks
