About The Position

Toole Design is seeking an Accounting Manager, General Ledger & Payroll Focused to join their Atlanta team. This role is crucial for supporting and strengthening roadway and active transportation projects by ensuring operational excellence. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a project-based or A&E environment
  • Supervisory experience, including mentoring, managing, and developing staff
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience with large ERP systems (Deltek Vantagepoint preferred)
  • Working knowledge of FAR, CAS, multi-state payroll, and multi-currency accounting
  • Experience managing general ledger functions, including reconciliations, journal entries, financial reporting, and audit support
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with high integrity, attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and perform under pressure

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support core accounting functions with a focus on general ledger integrity and payroll operations.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting.
  • Oversee journal entries, reconciliations, and the monthly close process.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports and present insights to management.
  • Help maintain internal controls and accounting policies in alignment with GAAP, FAR, and CAS requirements.
  • Support payroll processes and multi-state tax compliance.
  • Partner across departments to provide financial guidance.
  • Support audits and regulatory reporting.
  • Manage and mentor accounting staff to drive consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
