About The Position

General position summary: Manage the daily activities of accounting coordinators (corporate and government), ensuring account reconciliations are recorded accurately and timely. Responsible for managing the monthly book close process, including but not limited to fixed fee transactions, schedules, and analytical reviews. Serve as primary support for accounting coordinators, actively reviewing, and assessing processes to maximize efficiencies and ensure completeness and accuracy.

Requirements

  • Two to three years’ experience in a management or supervisory role
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or commensurate experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to prioritize and re-prioritize as situations and needs change throughout the workday
  • Ability to multi-task and organize workflow to manage daily responsibilities, meet deadlines and prioritize work.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with the fingers, and perceives attributes of objects and materials.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Management of Accounting Coordinators, including completion of yearly performance appraisals
  • Review and approve workday submissions for paid time off requests and submission of hours worked
  • Review and approve posting journals for completeness and accuracy
  • Manage all aspects of the book-close process. Prepare and post standard book close entries, including but not limited to bad debt, purchase and sale of properties, prepaid expenses, T&E accruals, etc. Provide guidance and support for the financial accounting team, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of this process. Complete basic analytical review of the financials and provide summary to VP, Finance & Accounting.
  • Prepare monthly interest schedules
  • Monthly review and approval of aged property balances, ensuring proper balance sheet classification, timely follow-up, and collection of outstanding balances
  • Perform detailed review and analysis of 113500 report (unbilled) for governmental clients ensuring transactions are handled appropriately and reclassified as needed. Data should be summarized and forwarded to Director of Accounting monthly
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations for assigned accounts, ensuring appropriate adjusting entries are submitted for approval
  • Manage the balance sheet reconciliation process for assigned accounts, including analytical reviews, adjusting entries, and all related processes to ensure timely resolution of open items (pre & post book close)
  • Manage the intercompany reconciliation process for all intercompany accounts (USD and International)
  • Manage fixed asset processes including asset recognition, tracking in FAS software and reconciliation to the general ledger
  • Assist with review and approval of daily disbursements as needed
  • Establish measures and turn time targets for direct reports. Maintain volume and capacity reports.
  • Perform routine reviews of accounting processes, identify areas of concern and deficiencies, review metrics, provide solutions and process changes as needed
  • Assist with annual internal and external audits and special projects as needed
