About The Position

JM Test Systems is a Baton Rouge, Louisiana-based test equipment company serving industrial customers from more than a dozen locations across the country. Backed by Kanbrick, a long-term investment partnership, JM Test is working towards a $250M revenue target by 2028. This is a newly created role where the individual will own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close across every JM Test location, ensuring GAAP-compliant financial statements. The role involves delivering variance analysis and executive-ready reporting, strengthening internal controls, and managing multi-jurisdictional sales and use tax compliance. The Accounting Manager will also lead and develop the AP Supervisor and staff accountants, and drive improvements in the Sage 100 system and accounting processes. This position offers the opportunity to build processes and reporting cadence, manage a multi-location scope from day one, and have direct exposure to the CFO and Controller. As JM Test scales, this role has a clear path toward a Controller-level position.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Progressive accounting experience with ownership of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, ideally across multiple locations or entities.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
• Experience leading and developing accounting staff (e.g., AP or staff accountants).
• Excellent communication skills, comfortable presenting variance analysis and financial results to senior leadership.
• Curiosity to learn how JM Test operates before recommending change.
• Ability to build buy-in with department leaders.
• Comfortable stepping into a role that's still being shaped.

Nice To Haves

• CPA.
• Experience with Sage 100 or a similar mid-market ERP system.
• Multi-jurisdictional sales and use tax experience.
• Background as a Senior Accountant, Assistant Controller, or Controller at a smaller or single-location organization.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close across every JM Test location, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and GAAP-compliant financial statements.
• Deliver variance analysis and executive-ready reporting that connects financial numbers to operational activities across multiple locations and business lines.
• Strengthen internal controls and ensure the business is audit-ready.
• Manage multi-jurisdictional sales and use tax compliance.
• Lead and develop the AP Supervisor and staff accountants.
• Drive improvements in the Sage 100 system and accounting processes.
