About The Position

GHJ Search and Staffing, the recruitment division of GHJ, a national accounting and advisory firm, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager for a company in Bakersfield. This role will oversee day-to-day accounting operations and strengthen financial processes as the organization grows. It's an opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional to take ownership, lead a team, and work closely with leadership. The Accounting Manager will manage the month-end close, financial reporting, general ledger, and daily accounting activities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. The role also involves supporting budgeting, audits, internal controls, and process improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and month-end close processes
• Proficiency with Excel and accounting/ERP systems
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

• Previous supervisory or management experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end and year-end close processes
• Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger activity
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements and management reporting
• Oversee AP, AR, and other day-to-day accounting functions
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Coordinate audit requests and ensure accurate supporting documentation
• Maintain and strengthen accounting policies and internal controls
• Supervise and develop accounting staff
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies
