About The Position

The Accounting Manager owns and oversees the company’s general accounting operations and the day-to-day accounting of the business through co-work with other accounting managers and staff. This role supervises a team of several members for month-end closing, and is deeply involved in transactional accounting, cost reconciliation and expense analysis, lease tracking, supports corporate income tax and sales/use tax compliance and intercompany activities. You will be the primary driver of accounting policies, documentation, and process discipline while ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • 3+ years managing accounting staff
  • Strong experience with full-cycle close and reconciliations
  • Solid understanding in U.S. GAAP such as ASC 842 lease accounting, ASC985-20 intangible asset, income tax provision ASC 740
  • Experience with cost accounting in retail, food, distribution, or multi-location businesses
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in franchise, retail, restaurant, grocery, or food production environments
  • Experience in high transaction volume environments
  • Active CPA license
  • ERP system experience (QuickBooks or Business Central preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Directly manage, coach, and develop a team of several accounting staff
  • Oversee daily accounting workflow, task assignments, and output quality
  • Establish structure, accountability, and clear procedures across the team
  • Supervise and coordinate execution of monthly, quarterly, and annual close
  • Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Ensure timely, accurate financial statements
  • Continuously improve close efficiency and documentation
  • Develop, document, and maintain accounting policies and SOPs
  • Ensure consistent application of policies across entities and locations
  • Strengthen internal controls and audit readiness through documentation
  • Analyze the financial statement of the month vs budget and previous year
  • Gather the COGS and labor cost information to analyze the cost per store
  • Prepare audit schedules and support external audit requests
  • Maintain reconciliations and documentation to ensure audit readiness
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and company policies
  • Identify gaps and inefficiencies in daily accounting processes
  • Implement practical improvements and workflow enhancements
  • Assist with system improvements and accounting automation
