About The Position

We are looking for an Accounting Manager to join our Finance Team. The Accounting Manager will support the Controller in overseeing the financial reporting and analysis as well as overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations. This position is ideal for someone who is motivated by continuous improvement and is looking for opportunities for growth as the business expands.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • Working knowledge of tax laws and ASPE
  • Strong financial analysis skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Proficiency navigating spreadsheets, databases, and financial software applications
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to supervise and lead a team

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience reconciling Point-of-Sale and SAGE 300 data is an asset
  • Experience in multi-location retail, grocery, or inventory-driven businesses is a strong asset
  • Accounting designation is highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including accounts receivable and accounts payable functions
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all reconciliations, journal entries and financial statements are completed accurately and on time
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial results and provide recommendations on actionable financial insights
  • Lead the preparation and coordination of the annual budgets for all store locations
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to support internal decision making
  • Identify process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and internal controls
  • Contribute to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures
  • Assist with the annual review engagement, banking requirements and external reporting
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Supervise, develop and mentor accounting team
  • Oversee daily workflows of the department, review work and improve processes/controls
  • Support hiring, onboarding and retention of team members
  • Provide coaching, training and ongoing performance feedback
  • Act as point of escalation for accounting issues and provide guidance to team members
